About

Who We Are

The Grounds Management Association (GMA) is the UK’s leading body for grounds care.

We support the people who manage and maintain outdoor spaces across sport, education and community settings. Our members care for playing surfaces and green spaces used every day by millions of people.

Their work often goes unseen, but it makes a huge difference. Good surfaces support safer play and stronger communities.

Great surfaces do not happen by chance, and we are here to champion that work and the people behind it.

What We Do

We help grounds people succeed in their work.

We give them the knowledge and support they need to manage safe, high-quality outdoor spaces which range from grassroots pitches to elite sports venues. Our training and resources are designed to support every stage of the profession.

We set the standard for good practice across the sector. We provide clear, practical guidance that helps grounds staff deliver consistent results. We also promote safe and sustainable ways of working that protect both people and the environment.

We bring people together to learn and solve problems. Grounds management is a hands-on profession, and shared experience matters. Through our events and networks, we connect people across the industry and support them day-to-day.

We also speak up for grounds staff and the wider industry. We raise awareness of the value of good grounds management and the impact it has on sport and communities. We work with partners to push for better recognition and stronger investment for the sector.

Our focus is to strengthen the future of grounds management
